Nominate Local Leaders for Ohio American Trustees Project - Due Dec 20th!

From UC Service Learning & Civic Engagement:

Dear Community Partners Across the State of Ohio,

We are inviting you to get involved with the Ohio American Trustees Project (OAT Project).  The American Trustees Project, first started by the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Engagement at the University of Texas, uses digital videos to tell stories of everyday, civically-engaged role models from local communities to educate, motivate, and activate civic participation, especially for students in grades 6-12. Grounded in communication and education theory, the American Trustees (AT) Project uses the power of the narrative to teach, the strength of role models to inspire, and digital technologies to connect and educate.

Downloadable materials are available to help you, local teachers, student groups, or organizations nominate your community heroes. Nominations are due December 20, 2012 and three (3) finalists will be announced in January to begin production of professionally produced videos to honor and capture the finalists’ community contributions. Within one year, nominators will see the contest from start to finish: professionally produced videos that can be used to increase connectivity to local heroes and to inspire ways to participate in local Ohio communities.

If your group, class, or organization’s trustee nominee is selected as a finalist, the professionally produced video will honor your participants as co-producers.

What’s holding you back? Be a part of recognizing your local heroes through the Ohio American Trustees Project!
